Ocean as Therapy

Mama had a meltdown. Yes I’m talking about me. Went to my adorable friends birthday. Drank a little wine. Stayed up late talking to one of my besties just home from traveling. Then boom.

Migraine.

And let me tell you, the older you get the harder it is to recover.

Fast forward three days later and I still have an emotional hangover, several lost hours of work and I’ve regressed to a whiny, negative, critical version of me.

“Shall we go out?” I sputter through tears to my oh-so-patient husband who said, “No. We’re going to bed and getting up early to go to the beach.”

God bless him.

Because he knows that Mama Mar, aka Mother Ocean, always takes good care of me.

I was fortunate enough to grow up near the ocean (meaning, a 45 minute+ bus trip away) and could always find solace in her aqua arms.

This particular weekend was no different. Sea-foam waves laced with gold, perfect 70⁰ degree water, soft sand and that healing melody of waves.

Migraine.

Melt down.

Rest.

Reset.

Take yourself seriously. And your self-care. Find your happy place and let yourself indulge. Life can wait. Those aqua gold waves cannot.
